Hunger crisis in parts of Africa

The nutritional situation for children in many African countries is devastating. Around 278 million people across the African continent are affected by hunger – especially in the Horn of Africa, where malnourished children are fighting for survival.

The war in Sudan has triggered the world's largest hunger crisis. Millions of people are at acute risk of starvation, including a large proportion of children. Chronic hunger leads to deadly diseases or lifelong developmental damage.

This is how UNICEF combats hunger with the help of our donations:

• Food: Supply of therapeutic milk and peanut paste
• Medicine: Delivery of hygiene items and medications
• Drinking water: Provision of safe drinking water
• Education: Information about healthy nutrition
